Dr Tan Chin Hwee
BDS (Singapore), MFGDP (UK), GDDI Dental implantology
Dr Tan Chin Hwee has been in general dental practice for over 20 years. His commitment to his patient's care is reflected in his application of results from evidenced- based studies or published good practice guidelines.
From 1999, he was an Examiner with the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, Royal College of Surgeons UK for nine years, for their postgraduate DGDP, RCS exam and subsequently the MFGDP examination. Since 1990, he has continuously developed his special interests – aesthetic dentistry, orthodontics, and dental implants.
Being one of the pioneering dentists placing conventional dental implants in Singapore, he has used various implant systems from Corevent (now Zimmer), Calcitek, Nobel, Ankylos, Straumann to Osstem implants. His implant skills and surgical training stints were learned from skilled prosthodontists like Dr Gerald Niznick, Dr Fouad Khoury in the 1990s in Germany, and Frankfurt University under the Certificate Course in Oral Implantology(Singapore) programme and University of Warwick’s Dental Implantology Programme in the mid 2000s. Dr Tan also holds the National University of Singapore’s Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology, which is accredited by the Singapore Dental Council.
Dr Tan was fortunate to attend the first Progressive Orthodontic Seminars (1991-1993) in Singapore, which was largely taught by the brilliant founder Dr Don Magann himself. Dr Tan uses ceramic/metal braces, functional appliances and increasingly his main focus – Invisalign.
